Extremely disappointing experience — poor hospitality when we needed help most. Beautiful hotel and location, but unfortunately our experience was overshadowed by the way an issue on arrival was handled. We arrived around 3pm and spent approximately four hours trying to resolve a $500 deposit requirement that Expedia had not made clear to us, meaning we lost our entire first afternoon. By the time it was resolved around 7pm, it was dark. What disappointed us most was the lack of practical help and empathy from the hotel. In the end, a complete stranger at an exchange business helped us by giving us $500 so we could resolve the situation. We were incredibly grateful to that person, but disappointed that a stranger showed more willingness to help than the hotel did. Problems happen, but it’s how a hotel responds that matters. Unfortunately, the hospitality and support we received fell well below what we expected from a hotel of this standard.
